Roberts Phones Stern Show!
Shortly before 10 AM, Baba Booey came into the studio
and said that Julia Roberts was on the phone and that she wanted
to clear things up.
"This whole things is
not about us, apparently," Julie said
after she and Howard greeted each other like members of the mutual
admiration society.
Howard then asked her about the problem with
the release. Julia told him that her people only wanted to know
when her segment would be re-airing. "It's so everyone is aware," Julia said.
As the call progessed, Howard told Julia,
"I heard you were
crying this morning."
"It was an abrupt way
to greet the day with someone calling and I said 'hello' and the
first thing I hear is 'He's trashing you!'," Julia said.
She then apologized to Howard for the "misunderstanding"
and thanked Robin for her support the night of the auction.
When Howard pressed her about eventually coming
on the show, she was incredibly reluctant to commit to anything
in the future. She said that she was going to film a movie in
the California desert and that she'd be back in the Fall.
"When I come home and
settle back in, I will call you and we'll figure something out,"
Julia insisted.
Before hanging up, Gary asked her if she could
commit to coming to the show before Halloween. After some vacillating,
she quietly agreed.
This reporter doubts that interview will take
place this century.
