Roberts Reneges On Stern!
A
very angry Howard announced this morning that Julie Roberts would
not be making an appearance on his show today as promoted all
week.
The problem, it seems, is
with the control over future replays of her visit on the E! TV
show and the Saturday night show.
This all started at a charity
auction for RETS, an illness that affects young girls. Robin Quivers
bid $12,000 for a dress that Roberts once wore with the stipulation
that Roberts make an appearance on the show. Roberts agreed and
Robin bought the dress.
In an eleventh hour change
of heart, her management reneged on the appearance citing problems
with the RELEASE that guests must sign which gives the show permission
to use the guest's radio and TV appearance as the show's producers
want, basically forever.
Howard pointed out that all
the big celebrities including Arnold Schwartzenegger, Mariah Carey,
Sandra Bullock, Jerry Seinfeld and Stallone (Frank), to name a
few, signed their releases in full.
After going back and forth
with Roberts' management they offered Howard permission to run
her appearance on radio and TV for only two years.
"Unless we get a clean
release, tell them, thank you but no thank you," Howard said.
"We wanted a clean, full
release," he added.
Howard went on to say that without a full
release, many problems could arise including needing constant
permission to use even a second of Roberts in a segment.
"I'm going to be relentless,
I don't respect her... Julia Roberts is a welsher... I'm not going
to be crapped on", Howard vented as his anger began to
peak early this morning.
