STERN STAYS FOR FIVE MORE!
In true Stern style, with a studio full of press, Howard announced
this morning that he has re-signed with Infinity Broadcasting
for another five years.
"The reason I have called the press here today is...
I have re-signed for another five years," Howard said. "As
of 4:42pm yesterday I had no contract with Viacom/CBS. I was on
the fence with last minute negotiations," he added.
No terms of the deal were disclosed but Howard did say that
he has several new ways to 'express" the show and he will
be doing so in the near future.
"Mel thinks I got more than I deserve. I think I got
less," Howard joked.
Infinity Broadcasting founder and now head of Viacom, Mel
Karmazin, broke his long code of silence and spoke to the audience
saying that he was happy to have Howard stay but as originally
agreed, he would not change the S in CBS to Stern.
The Stern show will be on vacation until the first week of
January 2001.
